So, yes, I created a new forum just because I'm being a geek tonight.

At night we lock our doors. You have to pick up a phone and give us your room number and name and we push a button to let you in. The button has been broken/missing for several years now, resulting in having to jam the back end of a pen into the socket where the button was to press the contacts to open the doors.

I took the faceplate off tonight to figure out what I can do about replacing the button, and came to the idea of hooking up an rf remote. I would, of course, still replace the button, but it'd be nice to be able to use a remote too. If I can figure out where/how the switch is hooked up to the door, that is.

I am looking at using one of these http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=WASP-1-ND as the remote/receiver.
